• The more you go out of your comfort zone the bigger your comfort zone becomes
• What goes through your mind as you push yourself – it becomes easier and you can fully experience to zone you are in
• Accept your own limiting beliefs and deal with them – fear can be your best friend – fear is your teacher
• Learning to meditate is a great tool as it helps stabilise your breathing
• Accept that discomfort is part of life
• Slow down, be in the moment – what do you notice? Am I in joy or fear?
• Learn to transform fear to joy and believe you can do it
• Making a commitment to do something with someone else helps drive the motivation – and that’s what Deniz did when she committed to swim the English channel
• Find the right support team and you can do anything
• Learn how Deniz accepted that the cold became her teacher – physically and mentally
• Start small… even a short cold shower has benefits!!!
• Dreaming helps embed your challenge in your mind
• What Deniz learned from her swim from Robben Island to Cape Town!
• There’s science behind focussing on what you want – where your thoughts go your energy flows
• Deniz’s message to her younger self: Remember you are more powerful; you can do it; you can create your own reality; you should stand up for your yourself!
